  • Essay / Alternative Energy Sources - 1663

Imagine a world where no one can use their iPhone, their computer, or even turn on the lights. This is the kind of world that the future could look like if there is not an overhaul of the methods of obtaining electricity. Since the Industrial Revolution, people have used fossil fuels to power their homes, cars, and businesses. Unfortunately, our fossil fuel reserves are running out and have been shown to increase the temperature of the atmosphere and accelerate global warming. As gas prices steadily rise, people need a newer, cleaner source of energy. The alternatives are numerous and would benefit the well-being of the entire world. The human race must replace its use of fossil fuels with renewable resources in order to prosper economically and improve the world ecologically. Renewable resources are much cleaner and more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources do not pollute the environment nor do they release toxic carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. When oil, coal and natural gas are extracted, environments are disrupted and animals are forced from their habitats. Humans are destroying the natural world in a selfish desire to obtain a drop of oil in order to power their homes for an extra moment. Alternative energy sources are much safer for the environment than their fossil counterparts. Global warming, believed to be caused by the use of fossil fuels, is expected to cause sea levels to rise worldwide, according to National Geographic, which has been around for more than 125 years (Rising Seas). Renewable energy sources are much more sustainable around the world. in terms of human impacts on the environment. The use of fossil fuels must be phased out while new renewable fuels are put in the middle of paper......dc.org/about/priorities.asp>."Energy revolution = money saved." Greenpeace International.
