Problem-Based Learning as an Effective Tool for Teaching Computer Network DesignOverview: In this article, we have discussed the challenges faced in teaching computer network design using problem-based learning as an effective tool. Here we have discussed the places where it was first introduced and the techniques used in teaching computer network design. A two-threaded approach is used to make it more user-friendly. Several modules have also been introduced to reduce the distance between industry and the classroom.Introduction: The MSc in Data Networking and Telecommunications is being launched for the first time by the University of Salford, Salford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom in October 1990. This course involves recruitment. grew by 20 students per year at the beginning of its launch and gradually increased to a high number of 43 full-time students during the 1999-2000 academic year. This course is introduced mainly because the use of modern computer network technology is used by most of the business organizations. Even the use of personal computers and the Internet has also increased. Network Architecture and Design: A two-strand approach is used for effective teaching of this subject. The two threads involved are the Read thread and the PBL thread. In the course thread, we have a theoretical understanding of how the network works and performs. Various topics involved in the course thread are network design principles, local area network design, multi-site networks, connecting to the Internet, managing, protecting, sizing and understanding network applications. The course consisted of 20 hours of lectures and 4 hours of tutorials. The total thread is assessed at an 80% written exam. The other thread is PBL (based on problems in the middle of the article...... sessions. Each block has a fixed number of tokens, it writes a cache block when the processor has a block token. When we compare different protocols, the token protocol is efficient compared to the other two protocols The parallelized model is programmed with some basic functions The token protocols reviewed in this paper provide better performance than the directory protocols. our investigation, we can say that multithreaded versions of the network face workload problems and result in poor exploitation of instruction-level parallelism Works Cited: 1. csuohio.edu:2076/stamp/stamp.jsp? tp=&arnumber=60428862.S.Melvin Clearwater Networks CNP810SP Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), http://www.zytek.com/melvin/clearwater.html,20003, Towards the characterization of network processors: needs and challenges, XSTREAM LOGIC Inc., white paper, November. 2000
