“The Last Dog” “The Last Dog” by Katherine Paterson follows teenager Brock on his journey to the world outside the dome, a dystopian land. While in the dome, Brock learned that there was no life outside the dome. This idea is contradicted, however, when Brock discovers a land that closely resembles the land of today. This land contains plants, water and certain organisms, such as dogs. The world outside the dome is very different from the world inside the dome. The world inside the dome is different from the world outside the dome due to the life contained within both and the resources available. The world inside the dome, however, has some similarities to the world outside the dome. The world inside and outside the dome contains water, and both contain air. The world inside and outside the dome varies due to the life contained within both. For example, mothers do not exist inside the dome. Outside the dome, however, it is clear that mothers exist when Brock finds the puppy with its deceased mother. Children are trained in laboratories inside the dome. Insi...
