  • Essay / first impressions can be deceiving - 630

It's safe to say that first impressions are everything and sometimes end up being nothing. We tend to decide right away if we like something or someone when in fact we haven't given the time of day. We decide to instantly jump to conclusions that, half the time, aren't even close to being correct. First impressions are very important, but many of the biggest impressions are there and instantly grab our attention, but over time those feelings of excitement fade. They are temporary and false, so first impressions can be deceiving. For example, if you see a well-dressed, educated man, your first impressions are that he is charming, wealthy, and safe to talk to. At a glance, they always catch your attention, but if you see someone poorly dressed and coming from the street, you automatically think that they are dangerous, that they look scary and that they are necessary to lock your car doors. Make people understand that a person's exterior really has an effect on the point of view of others. For some reason, our eyes tend to only see the outside of the person and we forget to think intelligently. When in reality, these judgments could be completely vice versa. A person should be defined by their good intentions and kind personality and not by their wardrobe. “Imperfection is beauty” – “Marilyn Monroe”. I believe in this quote because you will meet so many different people but the one you judge at first sight in the end will become your best friend. As good people, it is essential to keep in mind that a person's outward appearance does not reflect the value of a good heart. This brings us to the act of meeting new people. Socializing is a fun experience that gives us the opportunity to get closer to people who are at first complete strangers...... middle of paper ...... tire scams. Either if it was a person or an object, we committed the crime of not giving him the chance to prove us wrong. We have let these first impressions take control of us when we should not be easily deceived. Someone's appearance leads us to think wild accusations and sometimes completely false thoughts. Being introduced to someone and having a twenty second conversation helps us decide if he or she was great or not. A nice cover and a pronounced book title are enough for us to understand it. These are all examples of the mistakes we continue to make and only by remembering that first impressions are deceptive can we live our lives to the fullest. A life full of open-mindedness and spontaneous things, a life where you do what most don't do, which is to go out and give someone or something a chance to prove that you are wrong..
