Essay / The effects of placenta previa - 912
The opportunity to give life to the world is an invaluable moment, and for this to be threatened by an illness; like Placenta Previa, is heartbreaking. Placenta previa is commonly described as the implantation of the placenta on or near the cervix. According to the Permanente Medical Group, during a normal pregnancy, the placenta forms in the upper part of the uterus, away from the cervix. However, in placenta previa, the placenta tends to attach to the lower part of the uterus, covering or partially covering the cervix, making normal delivery (vaginal delivery) almost impossible (Placenta previa) . Placenta previa complicates approximately 1 in 200 deliveries and is a leading cause of vaginal bleeding during the second and third trimesters (Getahun). This is also linked to escalating risks of maternal and child illness and death (Getahun). Instead of finding one or more specific solutions over the years, doctors have settled on different treatments for placenta previa. The obvious solution to placenta previa is to reduce your risks by avoiding cigarettes and any type of drugs, trying to reduce your reliance on abortions and C-sections, which means no elective C-section (The Bump). However, as reduction of the above is unlikely due to the mindset and ignorance of today's women, the medical council must think of alternative treatments for placenta previa, such as bed rest, constant monitoring throughout pregnancy and cesarean section. In this essay I will evaluate the treatments listed above, at what stage the doctor will suggest the treatment and explain which one I think is best. The obvious solution to placenta previa is to reduce your risks by avoiding paper risks......ems/articles/placenta-previa.aspx>.Childbirth Solutions Staff. “Placenta previa.” RSS Childbirth Solutions.
