The dramaturgical approach is a “vision of social interaction in which people are considered actors on a stage” with the aim of making their performance credible (Witt, 2015, pp. 78-79). In this situation, the doctor wears a "costume" consisting of a white coat and formal clothing to make his role believable. The office is his stage, the examination tables and the stethoscope are two of his accessories.
