Essay / The Problem of Hate, Racism and Discrimination in America
Now what has America let kill us? Who is “We” in the first place? Was anything that could have killed dangerous? Was it a weapon? Have the injured people ever done anything about it? Have they already fought back? So many questions that need to be answered. Even though there are many questions that need to be answered, no one can answer them honestly. One of the things that has in some ways held some of the country back in the United States is that there is no explanation for anything that has been done or what is happening. This thing that harmed so many people is still neglected today, as if nothing had happened. People treat it like it's normal and when it happens, for some, it's just a normal day. Well, my friends, that's called racism. As I understand it, racism means discriminating against and antagonizing a person because of their race or beliefs. Now for America that means letting someone suffer until they explode and do something stupid for which they are incarcerated. For many years, the African American community was treated wrongly and unfairly. Many people have lost their lives because of the stupidity of someone who thought it was better. This problem has been going on for several centuries. In fact, racism has existed since the 17th century. The sad thing is that it never stopped. Not once was everyone in America considered the same. How truly great will this country be if we don't love each other equally? These are even young children who learn these sickening methods from those older than them. How can you teach a young person something of which he does not know the true meaning? At least give children the opportunity to choose the path they want to take. No one gets to choose what America is. It has so much influence on this situation and not on good. Racism has gone too far against the black community in America. The saddest part of all this is that no one knows pain except us African Americans. The black community has many public figures who have done their best to secure the future. Martin Luther King Jr., for example, was a strong African-American man who stood up for his rights while being nonviolent. Martin Luther King Jr. went through so much adversity every day and the vision became increasingly difficult to keep alive because of the hatred. He was actually killed because of the white hatred directed at him. Another African American character is named Malcolm X. This historical figure also changed the way people thought about things. During the era of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, the police were very racist and police brutality was at an unprecedented level. Malcolm X talked about fighting the police so we could show strength and unity. Believe me, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. were game changers with the way the black community confronted them. That being said, the white man didn't like it at all. African Americans were never supposed to lead in some people's eyes and it makes them sick when we do. Racism has really destroyed a lot of the good things that were at stake. Can we actually sit here and say that's not the case? Seriously, people have lost their lives over this matter. For example, Emmett Till was killed because he was accusedfor looking at a white woman in a disrespectful manner. This young man was kidnapped from his home and lynched for something he didn't find out about until years later. No one can say here that racism and hatred towards black people were not the reason for this murder. The proof was there and nothing was done about the death of this young man. This is how deep racism becomes for the younger generation who may not know how serious it is. Just because people aren't getting lynched these days doesn't mean someone won't rip them off a person over racism. A considerable number of members of the black community have been lynched, raped and beaten because of the color of their skin. From the early 1900s until 1960, black people literally had to watch their backs because nowhere was safe. Just imagine the feeling of always having to look over your shoulder hoping you haven't looked wrongly at someone so-called superior. I can't even begin to imagine the fear the black community felt. Even a powerful black man was not good enough for society. This is why a powerful group called the Black Panther Party was created. This amazing organization was founded by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale. It was founded to ultimately challenge police wrongdoing. From the late 1960s to the early 1980s, police brutality was very scandalous. I'm sure everyone has heard of Rodney King if an example is needed. The police are the biggest perpetrators of acts of racism. It all starts with a white man who wants to show that he doesn't like black people, so he joins the force and then thinks he has the right to do whatever he wants. This is what the Black Panther Party protected the black community from. There were and still are today an overwhelming number of racist police officers. It is frightening to know that some of these officers called to protect and serve are part of the Klu Klux Klan organization. The KKK is the ultimate racist organization known to humanity. This domestic terrorist group has existed since 1865 and has been making life difficult for the black community for many years. African Americans have lived in terror for far too long because of this organization. What the KKK is demonstrating is so horrible that calling it racism for them is an understatement. They still show pure hatred towards people today, that of color. They believe that the white race is superior to any other race on this Earth today. They also believe that the white man owns everything and that the black community owes them something. The fact is that these beliefs are demonstrated by non-members of the KKK. These are the beliefs of every racist. These kinds of people think that African Americans have no place in this world. The KKK is simply going to the extreme of taking illegal actions. The situation was even worse because, in the mid-1800s, most of these KKK members were police officers and judges. It's not like they've ever really been punished for their wrongdoing, because they're the ones who say so. In many situations, African Americans cannot win after losing. Even within the school system, it was difficult for black people to access a decent education. From the early 1900s until about the 1950s, black people gained equal education. Black people were literally behind on the educational ladder. Black kids used to collect old textbooks from white kids and by that time the textbooks were all torn up and had things written on almost every page. At that time, black people had very little of whatschool systems had to offer. For a very long time, schools were segregated. Even though the school systems were segregated, it was a little girl who desegregated an all-white school in Louisiana named William Frantz Elementary. Her name is Ruby Nell Bridges and she entered an all-white school at the age of six in 1960. It was so bad that her mother and U.S. Marshalls had to escort her to and from school every day. school due to crowd violence. It is also another group of African-Americans who marked the history of the school system. This group was called Little Rock Nine. They were a group of nine African-American students attending an all-white school; which is named after Little Rock Central High School located in Little Rock, Arkansas. It's sad to say, but the black race has been mistreated when it comes to school systems, police officers, and just society. Society acts as if being a black man or woman in a world full of other races is out of the ordinary. .Whether a black man should be in a room full of white men shouldn't even be a topic of discussion. I never really thought there were such xenophobic people in America, but there are. All racists are simply people who are afraid of what they don't understand in reality. They hate the black community because they understand the culture. Why should black people suffer for being brought to a country they didn't ask to come to in the first place? White racists hate the fact that black people in America are the most. The fact is that the white race is the one that brought the blacks. This is where society gets confused. Racist white people hate black people for living in America, but America wouldn't be half of what it is today without the black community. So in reality, racist people should hate themselves because they are the real reason for their hatred. Why discriminate against something you put into play? Black people should not be discriminated against simply because they were brought into a world they did not ask for. All the black community does is make the best of the situations they find themselves in. Unfortunately, our best was never enough. It is always the community that is most affected and when things go well for black people, it is announced as a surprise to the whole world. For example, former President Barack Obama, when he became president, was the biggest shock in the world. No one could believe that a black man was coming to power for the first time in history. Everyone had this amazing look on their faces. Even though President Obama's victory was a surprise, it still wasn't enough for America. President Obama faced a lot of discrimination during his first years in office. Once again, it was mainly white people who showed so much hatred towards a man in a position of power. You see, everyone in the black community thought that once President Obama won the election, a lot of things would change for the black community. In some ways, some things have benefited black people and in some ways, they haven't. Obama Care was something that helped not only the black community, but everyone. While this helped a lot of people, all of them racist, it didn't stop the threats President Obama made against him. Can you imagine receiving death threats just because you are black and in power? It shows that being a black man with power is more terrifying than America's most notorious killer. If we..
