  • Essay / A story of bravery from my life

At my old school, school had started over a month ago, when a new girl arrived. She didn't know how things worked because she was homeschooled and no one was really willing to teach her different things. No one wanted to be associated with the “new girl.” She had a really hard time learning things because the person who was supposed to show her around didn't tell her anything. Everyone thought it was hilarious when she made a mistake or did the wrong thing. The person who was supposed to show her around, Sammie, claimed that she told the new girl, Anne, everything she needed to know. After lunch, people surrounded him every day for about a month. The teachers thought they were just talking, but in reality they were teasing her and making fun of the mistakes she made. This happened every day. My friends and I felt really bad every time they did this, but neither of us did anything. We felt that if we ruined other people's fun, they would probably start doing to us what they did to Anne. It seemed like she didn't want to admit defeat to the bullies, or didn't want to let them have the pleasure of seeing her cry. It hasn't stopped. It almost seemed normal to walk outside after lunch and see people gathered around Anne by the fence on the other side of the playground. As much as we hated it, we didn't want to stop it. No one was ready to tell a teacher, so everything escalated and the victims of bullying became bolder. One day, a little before spring break, Anne tried to tell a teacher what was going on. A few people took her away and told her to come and talk with them. After taking her away, they started insulting and pinching her for trying to tell a teacher. My friends Morgan and I had a teacher, but by the time we got one, the other people were gone. Anne had a few bleeding scratches on her arms, but she told the teacher she had fallen into a holly tree. Then, for a few days, the people who were bullying Anne started doing the same thing to us. However, they stopped after just three days. Every day after that, Anne came back inside with scratches on her arms. She started to bring a coat for the..
