    Literature Review: Literature review is exceptionally important in understanding the concepts and theoretical ideas in securing literature on migration. With attention focused on migration and security theory, particularly in relation to recent literature, the basis of our argument will be established and we will continually seek to find the elements that have been overlooked. The following chapters define what "securitization" entails and provide an in-depth overview of the literature that debates its presence and then acknowledges the limitations of academic work on the subject.2.1 Migration Theory "The threat of migration is basically a question of how relative it is. the numbers interact with the absorption and adaptation capacities of society… The fear of being overwhelmed by foreigners… is easy to mobilize on the political agenda as a security issue. (Waever et al, 1993, p. 45) International migration refers to the movements of people who emigrate and immigrate across national borders (Lahav 2004, p. 10). It has been recognized that the forces driving these movements are powerful and linked to levels of prosperity and human security within different societies (Lazaridis, 2011, p. 1). These changes are inherently effective because they manage to destabilize once-strong notions of national identity, making it very difficult for many European governments to maintain control. As a result, many political and academic debates point towards the securitization of migration policy in Europe.
