Every father should send his daughter to school. They should become educated mothers like these in America” (Langary 35). This is a quote from Nadia, 33, a woman who lived in Afghanistan, but now lives in America. She is one of the lucky few. Girls living in Afghanistan today unfortunately cannot go to school and will never become educated mothers because of the men who control and abuse them. That's why America should intervene in Afghanistan to help women go to work, go to school, and help them get justice for the severe abuse they face daily at the hands of men. However, many might oppose U.S. intervention in Afghanistan to promote gender equality. People may think that intervention would be a waste of time and money trying to help women in Afghanistan. American citizens may feel they have spent far too much time in Afghanistan and should focus on other countries in need. Since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States, America has gone to war and many troops are still deployed to this day. Many people believe that America should bring its troops home from the Middle East before even attempting to help the women in Afghanistan. One of the reasons America should help women in Afghanistan is because they can't work. Before the Taliban came and took away women's rights, women could work. In Afghanistan, women had great jobs. Women were doctors, teachers, lawyers, writers and much more. Women also contributed to the drafting of the constitution, and there were women legislators... middle of paper ...... in fact, there is no law to protect women from the domestic violence in Afghanistan. There is actually a law that gives men the right to abuse their female family members (The Life of an Afghan Woman). This is a very serious problem in Afghanistan, and women are essentially treated like prisoners on death row. This is why America must save these women from the men who hurt them. Afghanistan today faces a major problem. Women are not allowed to go to school to receive education. They are not allowed to work, so they can provide for their families; and they are daily abused and mistreated by men. If America could spend money and get involved in women's rights issues in Afghanistan, women could actually live safe lives, human rights could be restored, and the women who are currently suffering in Afghanistan would no longer suffer..
