  • Essay / An Analysis of Pi's Life by Yann Martel - 1978

The experience Pi had on the lifeboat was horrible and it was not a good time for him. His family, Richard Parker, and the orange juice he loved so much have all left him in one way or another. He starved to death, became partially blind and suffered so much physical pain that he will never forget it. Last but not least, this whole experience traumatized Pi with the ship sinking, Richard Parker killing a human and the way he stored food traumatized him. How can everything Pi has experienced seem like a happy ending when he lost so much of himself throughout his life ?
