    Dear Mayor, I am very pleased that you are building a statue downtown to honor one of the great men in our nation's history. I think it is very important to recognize important people who came before us like the Founding Fathers. I would like to give you a suggestion as to which Founding Father most deserves to be honored in our city. I think you should build a statue of Benjamin Franklin because he held important positions in the colonies, influenced history, and lived a life full of democratic values. Benjamin Franklin played many important roles in the colonies. I will explain the two that seem most important to me. First, he was a member of the Constitutional Convention. The Constitutional Convention was a large meeting held in 1787 to discuss changing the Articles of Confederation. This is where they wrote the Constitution we have today. Benjamin Franklin was a very important person at the convention because he argued for the Connecticut Compromise and convinced people who were unsure to sign the Constitution.
