Fashion is proof of human evolution. The industry is recognizing the need for diversity more than ever and embracing its broader meaning, which until recently has largely referred to race. However, debates and discussions are ongoing as to whether this will last or whether it is simply the effect of a “diversity brake”. Studying this course will better prepare me to help make the movement more permanent by emphasizing the power of authentic representation and greater inclusiveness behind the scenes and not just in front of the camera. The skills I acquired while studying computer science for my bachelor's degree will allow me to follow the technological aspect of the course. I believe it is important to take initiative in personal development. I am proud to be self-taught. This will help me adapt smoothly to university life, as independent study is more than teaching and lecturing at university. Completing the bronze level of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award gave me the confidence to approach challenges with confidence and move forward. I decided to take a gap year to focus on my personal growth and better prepare myself for the course and life after graduation.
