    In the aptly titled novel, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," by author Mark Twain, a young boy named Huckleberry Finn's life is completely changed. The story is basically this: Huck is sent to live with his strict parents who try to turn him into someone he is not, but ends up traveling the Mississippi River with a runaway slave, Jim. As the novel progresses, Jim and Huck develop an extremely close friendship, which causes him to change his mind about slavery. Despite numerous opportunities, Huck never denounces Jim, due to his new view of slavery. Although slavery is a main theme of the book, it is not the only one. Because author Mark Twain creates social critique by juxtaposing the idea of ​​freedom with conformity, civilization, and social order. The reader can understand that although Jim clearly seeks freedom, Huck does too, and desperately. Even though Huck is clearly not a slave, he still feels trapped by the inescapable restrictions and limitations that his new guardians and society have imposed on him.
