    However, just this year, a Miley Cyrus song sparked a twerking epidemic, and there's no denying the impact it had on teens from all over the country. The problem, however, is that hip-hop music promotes far worse things than the provocative dancing advocated in Cyrus' song. Others argue that culture is not actually affected by music, quite the contrary. They claim that the lyrics of hip-hop music are street poetry and embody black victimization in the ghetto. However, if we accept this, we accept the fact that "ghetto life" is so desperate that an outbreak of violence is justified. By encouraging rappers who promote this type of behavior, we deem this behavior acceptable simply because “ghetto life” is hard.
