    However, how can they explain injustices in First Nations communities. Isn't justice supposed to treat everyone the same? Section 15.(1) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms states without doubt: “All individuals are equal before and under the law and are entitled to equal protection and equal benefit of the law, without discrimination. ..” Although, perhaps, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms has no presence in law, our criminal justice system is seriously deficient. Fair treatment of First Nations in our broken system has a very faint light at the end of the tunnel. Our criminal justice system must be reviewed and modified so that it is more accessible, more sensitive and more equitable for First Nations.
