Essay / Social Workers, Warriors of Change - 1265
Most people in today's world have no idea what social workers are responsible for doing, and few of them will understand never the full scope of social work practice. To further examine this group of people, the veil is lifted on a group of true warriors for all humanity. These people, pure and simple, are workers and, as workers, their job is to ensure that the work gets done. Their work may not be saturated with enormous wealth, but when you can bring a change in the direction of a nation, or lead an entire community towards the development of a better standard of living for themselves or for the next generation, money is the solution. the least of your worries. In the 21st century, the role of the social worker will be that of a warrior for all in creating better systems of equality, dismantling public policies, and facilitating social change in all aspects of society. The profession of social work is nothing new in the world. the world because those we call today social workers, or change workers, have always worked behind the scenes and in front to improve the situation of those who find themselves deprived of their rights because of the policies and practices of the status quo . Social work has never really maintained the status quo. If that had been the case, it would [not] exist as a profession today. It continues to exist and will continue to exist because of its responsiveness to the needs of individuals and society (Gambrill, 384). There are so many evils crippling so many aspects of society that the social does not need a cause to appear, it is always on the scene. Whether from the farms of the Midwest to the valleys of India, there is always a forum where the social worker will find opportunity to bring chaos into existence...... middle of paper ..... .ker deals with an individual, they know the group is pretty much the same and the call for change is always upon them. If the status quo were to continue, there would be no room for growth and hope would erode like water in the desert sun. We should all salute, shake hands, hug and say a huge thank you for being the warrior of change that the whole world has benefited from.
