    Research reviewThe assassination of John F. Kennedy is considered, according to the Warren Report, to be a murder. The Warren Report states that a man, Lee Harvey Oswald, fired 3 shots from the 6th floor of the Texas Book State Depository building. One of them completely missed the president's motorcade; another hit President Kennedy in the neck, and the last hit him in the head, which was later declared after an autopsy to be the cause of death. The problem with the Warren report is that some eyewitnesses say the shots came from in front of the motorcade, which would mean there were two or more shooters. The FBI did little to help the Warren Commission find answers; Initially, the report was supposed to remain sealed for 75 years, or until 2039, but the bulk of it was released in 1992. If there were indeed multiple shooters, that would automatically mean the murder was in fact a conspiracy. Another reason people believe there were multiple shooters is because once the president is shot in the head, his head lurches back and to the left, which makes no sense if the shot came from behind. This conspiracy is called the multiple shooter conspiracy. Another conspiracy is that the CIA or the mafia planned to assassinate President Kennedy. President Kennedy and the CIA no longer got along after the massive failure of the Bay of Pigs invasion. Kennedy wanted to end the CIA, which of course angered many high-ranking CIA officials and agents. Additionally, Kennedy and his brother Robert Kennedy, Attorney General of the United States, were cracking down on organized crime more than ever. Theorists believe that by killing President Kennedy, the Mafia could limit the power of the attorney general.
