    However, the notion that I believe will apply most to my own practice is the idea proposed in the book on how to implement a change, you have to go against the status quo at the same time (Godin, 2008). This perspective reminded me of a topic that was covered in my basic nursing course regarding the sacred cow and nursing. Sacred cow is a term for facts, protocols, standards of practice, etc. that laid the foundation for nursing practice (Rauen, Chulay, Bridges, Vollman, & Arbour, 2008). In order to lead change in the ever-changing field of nursing, it may make sense to go against sacred cow politics.
