  • Essay / Coaching Sessions Essay - 1165

I have extensive experience in planning and organizing coaching sessions, from clinics to football training sessions. At BTEC Sport Level 3, I learned how to organize my sessions using lesson models. I was also taught to undergo a risk assessment before commencing any session to ensure all risks and dangers were minimised. I have been able to teach a variety of different sessions within experiences, for example coaching sport specific activities (football, basketball) for older students or coaching the more fundamental aspect of sport for the youngest. Planning is essential to participate effectively in the organization of work. This focuses on the ability to apply knowledge and skills in an integrated manner in work and coaching situations. (Curtain, 2004) Much of my experience comes from observing different coaches, which has given me a wide range of different ways to coach effectively. Once these sessions were over, I was able to reflect on what the coach had done and make observations about the different coaching styles they had used during the session so I could gain knowledge and learn from them. To gain more knowledge in skilled coaching, no matter what level you are working at, you need to develop the ability to reflect on past sessions and integrate it methodically and regularly into coaching sessions. (Crisfield, 2003) I was able to take a Movement Fundamentals course where I was able to gain knowledge on how to develop the key areas that young children need to improve in in order to begin working on sport-specific workouts. I also did a lot of FUNdamental sessions in my coaching classes where I was able to set up different exercises for...... middle of paper ......nts where I was able to give a decent session for example school sports halls, football pitches, playgrounds. I have had experiences where I had to coach people in groups during many training coaching sessions that took place during my course. I was able to converse with the group and work together to plan a successful session and help each other facilitate these sessions. I am able to remain calm and professional while working with children and if there were any behavioral issues I would do so. I will definitely be able to keep calm and approach the situation appropriately. When I work, my attitude is very positive, I will happily accept any position offered as I believe I have a good knowledge of the different aspects of coaching. For example, coaching a group just to coach a group, or observing and assisting a coach..
