    The small study was conducted to determine how often participants were exposed to lateral violence. This voluntary study was a web-based study to allow for anonymity and consisted of a pre-test then an educational session followed by a post-test, with a three-month follow-up survey. The pre-intervention survey showed that staff witnessed lateral violence every week and post-intervention behaviors showed a decrease in behaviors at the monthly level. This shows that education can have a positive impact on reducing incidents of lateral violence. Myers et al. (2016) conducted their study in conjunction with a New York statewide study to explore nurses' experiences of lateral violence. Myers et al. (2016) proposed online and paper surveys for the convenience of nurses. The study found that lateral violence is seen in all nursing roles, from nursing assistants to management roles. The results of this study have led organizations to carry out educational programs and provide open forums to give staff the opportunity to talk about their experiences.
