Many people, especially college-aged students, drink alcohol. Most people do it socially, but some people overdo it and become a danger to themselves and others. Alcohol consumption can also lead to many diseases, including liver cancer, alcohol poisoning, and brain determination. Although most people use it as a social tool, markets should stop selling alcohol after midnight because drunk driving accidents are five times more likely to occur in the early morning hours. People can drink too much and become alcohol poisoned, and alcohol disrupts sleep. ProblemSome states have already started putting limits on when you can buy alcohol. Texas is one of the states that implemented the law prohibiting the sale of alcohol after midnight. Two years ago, Texas recorded more than twenty thousand people killed in drunk driving accidents. (Burns, 3). Since they implemented this law, the number of people killed in drunk driving accidents has decreased. Most stores in the state of Texas sell alcohol from seven a.m. to midnight five days a week, on Saturdays they extend the sales time until one a.m. and on Sundays every alcohol sales are closed. Tempe and the rest of Arizona could benefit from a law like this. Alcohol sales in this state are out of control and the death rate from drunk driving is higher than it has ever been. Not only do they drive drunk, but alcohol also has major effects on the body. In his article Alcohol Poisoning: Causes and Symptoms, Robert Lang explains: “A person's body can only process one unit of alcohol per hour. Drinking a large amount in a short period of time and the amount of alcohol you have in your body can prevent your body from functioning properly. (Lang, 4). Drunk drivers are another alcohol-related problem. People who drink even a little are too impaired to drive and should let another person take them home or call a taxi.
