Modern feminist approaches [c. 1000 words] Discussing the contemporary sociological perspective from modern feminism to "divine" wisdom should involve a brief overview of the orientation of theology. McGrath suggests that "feminism is a global movement that advocates for gender equality and a right understanding of the relationship between women and men that must be affirmed by contemporary theology and practice" (McGrath, 2011: p. 88). Thus, when discussing wisdom in Scripture, feminists look at how gender is represented and the effect of that representation on fostering or hindering a "good relationship" between the sexes. To recap, Proverbs illustrates Wisdom as both a teacher and a personified woman, while in John, Wisdom is incarnated in the Being Jesus. Matthew is similar to John in that Jesus is presented more as, as Dunn explains, “the embodiment of divine wisdom” (Dunn, 1980). This is because Matthew apparently deliberately altered the Q source in order to incorporate wisdom Christology. A similar edition of the christological wisdom of Source Q also seems to have taken place in Luke as Jesus speaks of himself as the "intermediary" between God and the world (Luke 10:22). However, these two books illustrate wisdom as being subservient to the needs of the creator, the wisdom teachers, and the gospel writers to the point where wisdom no longer has a predominant or individual place. Fiorenza realized that even though the first thoughts about Jesus were all sophialogy, they ended up being overwhelmed by patriarchy: when we move from Jewish wisdom literature to early Christian writings, the figure of the divine wisdom seems to disappear.
