History has shown that some racial groups, particularly blacks and Latinos, have had long and poor relationships with police, largely because socio-economic and racist discrimination in one way or another. . Race plays a big role when it comes to police brutality, but we only see something terrible when it involves white officers assaulting someone of the opposite race. Maybe it's not always race that's the problem, but the fact that the citizen did something wrong. Then, just because he or she is of a different race, all fingers are then pointed at the officer who was simply trying to mete out justice. That means it can go either way, it's not always the cops' fault, but that's what the media has perceived and has a stereotype of officers of the law. Perhaps it was the civilian who incited or threatened them. They have the right to protect themselves, and this is sometimes exploited by the media and even by the community.
