Climate change has been one of the greatest concerns of all nations in the world over the centuries. Climate change refers to changes in weather conditions that may be indicated by global warming, natural disasters, and sea level rise. There is a group of people skeptical of climate change who argue that climate change is not the result of human activity, which means it occurs naturally. According to Slaght, this refers to internal factors, namely the interaction between the atmosphere and the ocean, and external factors, such as variations in solar energy and volcanic eruptions (John Slaght, 2009) . However, most scientists claim that humans are also involved in this process. Therefore, this essay aims to discuss the impacts of greenhouse gases on the climate, then the contribution of man to climate change and finally, some statistics on the effects of global warming. Global warming is generally caused by an excessive amount of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases are gases that function in the same way as greenhouse gases, absorbing thermal radiation from the Sun and releasing it to the Earth's surface. This process is called the greenhouse effect. Additionally, greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, water vapor, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons or commonly known as CFCs. According to Steffen, “the primary cause of observed changes in Earth's climate is human activities, primarily the burning of fossil fuels. fuels” (Steffen, 2013). The process of burning fossil fuels releases a huge amount of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere, thereby disrupting the balance of greenhouse gases in nature. As Slaght said: “The accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere due to human activities will alter the medium of the paper and replace it with little or no regrowth vegetation. It takes years to regrow lost vegetation. In summary, it is clear that climate change is indeed happening. Humans are considered the main cause of the problem. Activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation disrupt the climate by disrupting the natural balance of greenhouse gases. Global warming has long-term effects on our lives.
