Forrest Gump Movie Review EssayOften, hardships such as war, separation from those you love, terrorism, and bullying can cause your self-esteem, motivation, and even personality to drop to a lower level . . It can be difficult to stay strong and continue to progress with the many misfortunes that can arise. Similarly, Forrest Gump by Robert Zemeckis shows how the protagonist, Forrest Gump, deals with and reacts to all the adversity that occurs in society as well as in his family and friends. Forrest Gump is set in the 1950s-1980s in Forrest's hometown of Greenbow, Alabama. Forrest Gump was a simple man who had an IQ of 75. He was always bullied by children because he wore braces on his legs and was considered stupid. Luckily, he was able to meet his best friend, Jenny, with whom they grew up together into adulthood. Forrest fell in love with Jenny and never stopped thinking about her even though she took many wrong turns in his life. Forrest decided to join the army to fight Vietnam and along the way met a new friend named Bubba, who won't stop talking about shrimp. Throughout his life, Forrest won numerous medals, inspired people, and even met the president several times, but ultimately his heart and mind always went to his childhood friend, Jenny Curran. Although it lacks the true realities of life, Forrest Gump uses cutting-edge special effects in the plot with funny characters and its heroic protagonist to capture the hearts of the viewers. For starters, the true realities of some of the events that occurred weren't expressed clearly to show viewers what the true experience should be. An example that demonstrates this is when Forrest goes to war in Vietnam to fight in the Vietnam War. During this... middle of paper ...... total handicap, but in the end he ran as fast as the wind to feel free. As Forrest said, “Life was like a box of chocolates.” You never know what you're going to get” (imdb.com par.4). Forrest Gump is a movie that can make you laugh like a hyena and also make the sorrow fall from your eyes. Overall, I definitely recommend this movie to the audience because of the many life lessons it can teach us and the funny moments that can make us all laugh. Works CitedEbert, Roger.
