  • Essay / The Horse and His Boy by CS Lewis - 828

The Horse and His Boy by CS LewisThe book I read for my book report was a fiction book called The Horse and His Boy by CS Lewis. This is the third book in the "Chronicles of Narnia" series and was published in 1954. The story takes place in the fantasy land of Calormen and the equally fantasy land of Narnia. It's about a boy who is fleeing his life as a slave and his upcoming adventure. I found this book adventurous, exciting and suspicious (to a certain extent). It shows people how courage and faith work together to provide strength in times of need. I enjoyed The Horse and His Boy and it's perfect for people who like fantasy fiction books. This exciting chapter in the Narnie series is suspenseful, adventurous and exciting and it teaches the importance of courage and faith in oneself. In The Horse and His Boy, a young boy named Shasta flees the life he once led. All his life he was the Calormene slave of a man named Arsheesh, whom he called his father. Shasta escapes from captivity when he overhears Arsheesh plotting to sell him to a slave trader. To escape, Shasta needs a horse, so he goes to the stable where the slave trader's horse is tied. Upon stealing the horse, he discovered that this horse was not an ordinary horse, but rather a talking horse named Bree. They waited until the men went to bed, then they fled. As they were traveling, they were chased by a lion. While fleeing the lion, they encountered another horse and its rider, who they later discovered was a young girl named Aravis, who also fled, and her talking horse, Hwin . She was running away because she was engaged to a rich old man she didn't love. The four travelers decide to team up and continue their journey together. They travel for a while, then they arrive at the town of Tashbaan. As they venture into the city, Shasta is mistaken for a runaway prince named Corin and is taken prisoner by Narnian guards. While in the castle he overhears the guards talking about an upcoming war between Narnia and Calormen and how most people were fleeing the nations..
