Experience #1My experience at Reynaldo Garza Elementary School went pretty well and it was the first time I worked with a school counselor. I arrived at school at 8:15 a.m. and went to the main office to wait for Ms. Laura Estrada. She was already at school, but she was in a meeting with Mr. Torres, the principal. She came to meet me in person at the office for the first time and she told me to wait a few minutes because she was responsible for part of that day's announcement. She mentioned that she had to announce the character of the day because it was Martin Luther King Day. While I was waiting in the officer, I could see the children who were going to sing the national anthem and some university students who were going to the school to read books to the children in the library. It was interesting to see how much activity was going on in a school at such an early time. Many people were coming in and out of the office because of paperwork, had appointments with staff members, and were picking up children because they were sick. Afterwards, Ms. Estrada finished her duties and took me to her office. She introduced me to Ms. Abete, who is a part-time school counselor and currently helping her. She explained her schedule to me for today as she mentioned that it changes every week since she is the only full-time elementary school counselor at the school. She mentions that she constantly has to modify her schedule to meet her administrative demands and the needs of the children. Then she showed me her room and the little stations she had for the kids to do activities based on their grade level. She showed me the technological resources she had and how to use them in order to pass the film middle of paper......interesting. I continue to help the school counselors by making sure everything is running smoothly. set up and ready to start the career fair for middle school students. Then I started taking pictures of all the tables with the presenters before the students entered the gymnasium and then invited the presenters to have breakfast snacks on the tables before the start of the career fair. It was an interesting morning seeing how much movement is happening at the school for events. I have always been involved in school events, but I never got to see how much effort school counselors and staff members put into a school event. This day made me realize to what extent, as a middle school student, I neither saw nor understood the efforts made by school counselors for the future of their students. It was a wonderful experience having the opportunity to help school counselors at a career fair..
