Essay / The hero always wins in the end - 1094
After hitting the snooze button twice and my mother yelling at me “Embla Haukdal, GET UP NOW”, I finally got up and went downstairs stairs. My mother looked surprised when I walked in and noticed she was holding an envelope in her hand. When I asked her about it, she got defensive and told me to get dressed. I missed my friends so much over the summer. How Katrín, or Kata, as I call her, became my best friend when I moved here three years ago, remains a mystery to me. When I first saw her, I thought for sure that she would be the self-centered bitch that every school had. Because she was extremely beautiful, had flawless skin, skinny and all the guys were practically drooling over her. But that wasn't the case at all. Even though she was really confident and loud, she was very sincere and really kind. Even though it was August, it was surprisingly warm outside and the sun was shining high in the sky. When I finally arrived at the school, I stopped outside and took in the moment, not really believing that this day was here. I was really grateful to have Kata, she was like a sister to me. I thought I never told him the real reason my mother and I moved here. Just as I was about to enter the school entrance, I saw him. The ever popular, arrogant and magnificent Baldur Blöndal. He is also Katrinar's elder brother. I saw him from time to time when I was at Katrinar's, but every week he had a new girl on his arm. He was so playful and treated girls badly, everyone knew it but they kept chasing him. I hated everything about him, his arrogant attitude and the way he walked around the halls flirting with all the girls. I even hated the way his blue eyes glowed and the way his skin turned golden when the sun... middle of paper......he's there" I said as a tear ran down my cheek. “Was he the one who called on the phone?” “Yes,” my mother said calmly. I noticed that Baldur was standing there and that he had been there the whole time and had witnessed the entire conversation. Before he could say anything, I ran upstairs to my room and my knees couldn't take it anymore, so I collapsed on the floor by the wall and started crying. Baldur came into my room and tried to comfort me. I completely freaked out and started yelling at him. And I ended up crying again. “He's here for me and he won't leave without me” “Hey, everything will be okay” he said wiping a tear from my cheek “You don't know that” I said weakly “Yes, I know that,” he said smiling “How, how do you know that?” I asked again "Because I won't let anyone hurt you, and besides, the hero always wins in the end.”
