To smoke or not to smoke, that is the question. Whether it is nobler in their minds to suffer the slings and arrows of society or to succumb to popular opinion and legalize marijuana. Marijuana is a cure for anorexia as well as glaucoma. Marijuana is even a helping factor in relieving some symptoms of AIDS. Yet, our country's government has classified marijuana as a Division I drug. Which means that it serves no medical purpose or profit in any way. Company. Outdated studies scientifically proven to be incorrect still remain beliefs of our government. Proponents of marijuana legalization have many scientifically proven facts that indicate that marijuana should be legalized. Legalizing marijuana would prove beneficial in a number of areas. The first benefit of legalizing marijuana is its medical uses. Marijuana boosts the immune system and serves as a remedy for glaucoma. Marijuana helps people with AIDS store and eat food. There are also intellectual benefits to marijuana use. Marijuana increases alpha wave activity in the brain. Alpha waves are associated with creativity. This creativity is potentially the foundation of literary and musical revelation. Bob Marley was one of the most influential musical composers of all time. Marley's music has persevered over the years. He has openly admitted, on several occasions, to smoking marijuana before writing and composing songs. Marley's influence is global. His nickname “the Legend” sets him apart from many other musicians. His worldwide fame sets him apart from all other musicians. Many people have attributed Marley's creative genius to his marijuana use. Socially, marijuana is better from an addiction standpoint. Marijuana is less addictive than tobacco. Essentially, marijuana is not physically or mentally addictive like nicotine. Another social benefit of marijuana is that it does not cause cancer compared to legal drugs like caffeine or cigarettes. These are just some of the reasons why marijuana is legal. To truly address the issue of legalization, you must not only look at the facts of the case, but also the effects it would have on employment. Certainly, there are no concrete facts that indicate that marijuana is needed. be legal (or illegal). If a person tries to imagine how many jobs a single American marijuana field would create, they find out in the middle of a paper...yet the government says it still hurts you when you smoke it. The government is referring to the thousands of chemicals in marijuana that you still inhale when you smoke it. The government forgets to mention that every cup of coffee contains eight hundred volatile chemicals. After testing only twenty-one of the chemicals in coffee, studies found that sixteen of them were cancerous. However, coffee, considered relatively safe, is legal. Looking at each fact of the two cases dealing with marijuana, it appears that marijuana should be legal. Legalization activists seem to have the answer to almost every fact presented by anti-marijuana activists. The American public must consider these facts when forming their personal opinions. This debate is too important to let uneducated people decide the fate of others. America needs to shed old stereotypes about marijuana and state its opinion on facts that do not.:(1988)
