An artist is a person engaged in one or more of a wide range of activities related to the creation of art, the practice of the arts and/or the demonstration of an art. The study of art appreciation in America began with the picture study movement in the late 19th century and began to fade away in the late 1920s. American educational philosopher and reformer John Dewey was instrumental in providing access to arts education in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Since World War II, the training of artists has shifted to colleges and universities, and contemporary art has become an increasingly academic and intellectual field. To obtain this career, you must obtain a professional degree in architecture. Students must have a 5-year bachelor's degree in architecture, a 2-year master's degree in architecture, a 3 or 4 year master's degree in architecture. To become a licensed architect, one must complete a period of practical training or internship and pass all divisions of the ARE (architecture registration exam).
