    Franz Kafka uses his short story “The Metamorphosis” to describe the isolation associated with alienation from society, manifested by his character Gregor Samsa. The effects of isolation and alienation are used to demonstrate the need for interaction and social inclusion for all individuals. Alienation is the process by which a person becomes alienated from the world in which he or she lives. The relevance of alienation in society is represented through several works of modern literature such as the painting “Alienation Nightmare” by Sabu, the song “One” by Three. Dog Night and the movie X-Men: The Last Stand. Gregor was estranged from his work and family, as evidenced by his lack of interest after his transformation into an insect. “One morning when Gregor Samsa awoke from restless dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.” Gregor wakes up in his room with the same feeling he goes to sleep with every night, the desire to be accepted by his family and by society. Once his transformation is complete, Gregor feels completely alienated from living in his house....
