Beef. This is what's for dinner. This well-known slogan was created to encourage Americans to include beef in their “healthy” diet. If the organizers of this campaign really cared about the health of Americans, they wouldn't be saying this. Instead, they should say the exact opposite: be vegetarian. First of all, let's start with what a vegetarian is. Vegetarianism is defined as “the practice of abstaining from the consumption of meat – red meat, poultry, seafood, and the flesh of any other animal; including abstention from by-products of animal slaughter. (Vegetarian). These byproducts include gelatin, lard, stocks and rennet. Although not all vegetarians eat meat, there are four different types of vegetarians. The most common type, lacto-ovo vegetarians, consume eggs and dairy products. Ovo-vegetarians consume eggs and not dairy products, and lacto-vegetarians consume milk but not eggs. Finally, vegans do not consume any animal products, even if it does not kill the animal. People adapt their vegetarian lifestyle for a variety of reasons, as the benefits of being vegetarian are numerous. Vegetarianism is the best lifestyle choice because it is good for health, it saves the lives of innocent animals and a carnivorous diet is unnatural and certainly unnecessary. Perhaps one of the only ways to get people to make changes in their lives is to put their lives at risk. in danger. Well, eating meat can do just that. Meat consumption has been linked to several health risks; such as heart disease, many forms of cancer and diabetes. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among American men and women. Heart disease accounts for eight times more deaths among women than deaths from breast cancer. Every year 1.1 ...... middle of paper ...... developed an infection, they would not receive any antibiotics, but would be destroyed. » said the man interviewed by Ellen. (Vegetated). The practice they use there involves driving a metal bolt into the animal's brain, killing it instantly. In this “free-range” farm, the space reserved for the chickens is anything but spacious. They have to spend their entire lives in a space of just 3 square feet. The chicks that are born never see their mother. When it comes time to kill the chicken for its meat, the procedure used involves hanging the chicken by its feet and then dragging it through water with an electric current running through it. People just aren't informed. If people knew the harsh truth behind eating that piece of steak, how the cows suffered, the disease they allow themselves to catch, maybe it would make people stop.
