  • Essay / Globalization has destroyed the middle class - 2246

The world is no longer a big and strange place. The world is an interconnected and intertwined place. The world has moved from a place where each country and its people are separate and isolated to a place where each country and its people are part of a global network. It is thanks to globalization that this is happening. Globalization is “international integration” or “border-breaking” – “a number of very disparate observations whose regular common denominator is the determination of a profound transformation of the traditional nation-state” (Von Bogdandy 2). Globalization connects different people from different cultures and backgrounds. More and more companies are entering new foreign markets to sell their products to indigenous populations. But at the same time, globalization harms people and countries. Globalization hurts workers and small countries. Workers are forced to work for low wages and small countries are manipulated by big countries. Globalization has a negative impact on this world and outweighs everything positive it produces. Thanks to globalization, the cultures and environment of different nations are under attack. Their customs and traditions are disappearing due to globalization. A perfect example is what is happening in India. Before globalization, “meals on the train were served in damp banana leaves that were picked in front of you and thrown away afterwards” (Rajiva 1). Today, after the full impact of globalization, “they are wrapped in foil or delivered in plastic or cardboard containers” (Rajiva 1. In this example, culture and environment are destroyed .The custom of wrapping food in banana leaves has disappeared....... middle of document...... obalization does not help nations to develop. ).
