    The Kim Dynasty of North KoreaNorth Korea is very mysterious and isolated from the rest of the world. Very little is known about what is actually happening in the state. This isolation began in 1945, when Kim Il-Sung came to power in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (also known as North Korea). He inaugurated a reign based on autonomy. This is the beginning of the Kim dynasty, a period of extreme authoritarian rule. Although it is called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, citizens have very few rights and no choice in who their leader is. Ironically, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea ranks last among 167 countries ranked in the democracy index. ("Liberty and Justice for Some") During the reign of Kim Il-Sung, Korea entered the Korean War, which strained its relations with other countries. North Korea then devolved further into isolationism and poverty. Under Kim Jong-Il's rule, North Korea became heavily involved in nuclear weapons, leading to strained relations with the United Nations and its member states. When Kim Jong-Un came to power, citizens suffered from lack of rights and crimes against humanity. The Kim dynasty has damaged North Korean citizens and its chances of becoming a world power. Kim Il-Sung became involved in the Communist Party when he was young and was imprisoned for involvement in a Communist organization at the age of eighteen. After being released from prison, he joined a Korean guerrilla war against Japanese control of the Korean Peninsula. Kim came to the attention of the Soviet Union, which sent him to the Soviet Union for military training; there he officially joined the Communist Party. Relations with the United Nations have been forever strained by the actions of North Korea's leaders. Since the Korean War, relations between North Korea and the world have deteriorated. The Kim dynasty has damaged North Korean citizens and its chances of becoming a world power. Their leadership has come at the expense of the lack of rights towards their citizens. Citizens were also victims of crimes against humanity. If the case against North Korea were brought to the ICC, conditions could improve for citizens. As for the state of the nation, future leaders' decisions will further harm or improve North Korea's status in its worldview..
