INTRODUCTIONHighway construction planning and scheduling is a complex process. For anyone involved in a highway construction project, thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, equipment and historical production rates is a very important factor. My personal knowledge and experience has helped me plan several highway construction projects. I realized that good project planning takes into account the savings that can be made by carrying out several activities simultaneously. Planning a highway project must take into account the impact of weather conditions, labor relations, subcontractor qualifications and productivity, availability of materials and a host of other factors . The ability to plan accurately is crucial to the success of any major highway construction and reconstruction project. , predict and control the construction process. Budgetary control, resource allocation and resulting impacts are some of the important factors that a planner must keep in mind while planning a highway construction project. Today, highway builders need sophisticated project management tools to meet their goals on time. Project planning has helped builders immensely in building construction over the last 20 to 30 years. However, traditional planning techniques used by building contractors cannot be applied to highway construction because the activities involved in highway construction are fundamentally different from those typically found in a construction project. construction.
