In recent times, there has been a revolutionary proliferation of computers in almost every industry. The lightning spurt of technology has penetrated all fields such as business, industry, education, telecommunications, medicine, entertainment and on the national front. This evolution of computing was more imminent in my environment when I was growing up. I had the opportunity to work on different projects related to web technologies, mobile technologies and health solutions. My undergraduate studies allowed me to acquire in-depth knowledge of the different facets of software engineering. I would like to pursue my graduate studies in software engineering as a first step to lay a solid foundation to embark on my long-term research interests. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was interested in learning new technologies. While doing projects, it helped me as I could use technology which allowed me to effectively solve the problem at hand. I carried out a project which consisted of developing a web portal to evaluate the code written by students. I used the web services of a code review site called "ideone.com". The project helped me understand the concepts of Java, Web Services and Databases. I built a visual organization management tool for a hospital infrastructure with an interactive drag-and-drop interface. Moving further, with a team of four people, I participated in a national level programming competition organized by Software Technological Parks of India and Indian Maritime University, where I got an opportunity to implement my skills in C# to solve fictitious maritime problems. We finished second in this competition. It was at the beginning of my third year of undergraduate studies that I had the chance to associate with an international community...... middle of paper ...... future goals, which I easily accepted and I will continue until I graduate. I think there is a perfect synergy between my interests and what Purdue offers in __. In particular, I am very interested in the research work of ______. It would be a great honor to work under their leadership. The association with the __ group would be very useful to me throughout my research career. I am convinced that Purdue CIT offers a stimulating academic environment conducive to excelling in my career. The interaction with eminent professors will prove extremely fruitful and facilitate my development as a researcher. Additionally, studying with culturally diverse students will be a lifetime experience. I believe I can meet and exceed the standards you set for your students and I look forward to attending Purdue CIT as a graduate student in the fall. 2014.
