Alicia NembhardEnglish 112In the novel “Chronicle of a Death Foretold” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the title of the book tells us that the story would fit into a certain sequence. “The day they were going to kill him, Santiago Nasar got up at five thirty in the morning.” In the first line of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the reader meets Santiago, the main character who is murdered by Pedro and Pablo Vicario for having taken the virginity of their sister Angela. The novel had been written in order, but as we begin reading, the author helps us understand the plot by immediately stating that Santiago Nasar was going to do it. The phases of the novel had shown that Santiago's death was followed by many coincidences, which would appear to the audience as Santiago's destiny to die. These coincidences had made it possible to carry out the death plans rather than saving him.
