The topic of abortion in the United States has become highly sensitive among various religious groups and pro-life organizations protesting abortion, questioning the Fourteenth Amendment and the idea of personhood. The Fourteenth Amendment states that "...neither the United States nor any state shall deny to any citizen life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness..." Yet the most controversial issue in the abortion debate is whether the fetus is seen or not. as a person. If the fetus is considered a “person/citizen,” then it is entitled to unalienable individual rights granted and bound to us by the Constitution. Furthermore, if the court recognizes that the fetus is in fact a person/citizen, then its inalienable constitutional rights must be considered.
