Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “You have been taught concerning your old way of life to put off your old self, which is corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be renewed in the attitude of your spirit and put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Our old ways of life before believing in Christ are completely in the past, a Christian counselor must inform the client(s) to leave the past behind and let it go. Dr. Larry Crabb's book is very informative for Christians interested in counseling. Dr. Crabb presents many different thoughts on counseling from a secular and Christian perspective; in doing so, he also shows his own thoughts and views Dr. Crabb is very respectful when it comes to other views and approaches them from a biblical perspective so that as Christians we can see how to counsel them appropriately in. This failure also tells us how counsel should be handled, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for training in righteousness. "man of God be adequate, equipped for every good work", another scripture that is excellent for counseling is Proverbs 15:22 "Without consultation plans fail, but with many counselors they succeed.”.
