    Dr. Larry Crabb's book "Effective Biblical Counseling: A Model for Helping Caring Christians Become Capable Counselors" Crabb, (1977), this book shows how counseling can be gracefully integrated into local church implementation . Dr. Crabb says that "any truly biblical approach to counseling will work most effectively when implemented in the context of a local body of believers" (p. 15).Part I: Purpose of Christian CounselingThe Purpose of Christian Counseling Dr. Crabb states in his book Crabb (1977) that "any counseling approach that is truly biblical will work most effectively when implemented in the context of a local body of believers" (p. 13). As Dr. Crabb states in his book: “The purpose of biblical counseling is to promote Christian maturity, to help people enter into a richer worship experience and a more effective life of service” (p. 31 ), this allows them to grow spiritually. and allow them to focus on the problem in a biblical scriptural way. The purpose of biblical counseling is to assist believers or non-believers through word and prayer. Ephesians 4:22-24 says, “You have been taught concerning your old way of life to put off your old self, which is corrupted by its deceitful desires, to be renewed in the attitude of your spirit and put on the new self created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Our old ways of life before believing in Christ are completely in the past, a Christian counselor must inform the client(s) to leave the past behind and let it go. Christian development is to deal with the immediate problem in a reliable method with the Scriptures, and to develop an inner personality that conforms to the spirit of Christ, show...... middle of paper ......f " (p. . 179). Dr. Larry Crabb's book is very informative for Christians interested in counseling. Dr. Crabb presents many different thoughts on counseling from a secular and Christian perspective; in doing so, he also shows his own thoughts and views Dr. Crabb is very respectful when it comes to other views and approaches them from a biblical perspective so that as Christians we can see how to counsel them appropriately in. This failure also tells us how counsel should be handled, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for training in righteousness. "man of God be adequate, equipped for every good work", another scripture that is excellent for counseling is Proverbs 15:22 "Without consultation plans fail, but with many counselors they succeed.”.
