  • Essay / The prophecy of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38-39 - 3397

IntroductionWithin Abrahamic religions, eschatology gives rise to numerous debates, it is a question of including chapter 38-39 of Ezekiel in reference to Gog and Magog. The prophecies from Isaiah to Revelation are intertwined, making it important to identify and understand the accomplices, interludes, geography, and various elucidations that help to accurately analyze and understand this prophecy. It is important to recognize that "the main difficulties in interpreting these two chapters are the identity of the characters and places, as well as the moment in which these events occur." There is extensive elucidation regarding the invasion of Gog and Magog, therefore requiring a focus on dispensationalism and various scholarly interpretations, including: “John Walvoord, beginning of the tribulation; DL Cooper, before the tribulation; AC Gaebelein, beginning of the millennium; Charles Feinberg, End of the Tribulation; and CC Ryrie, multiple achievements”, each with its own strengths and weaknesses, forms the basis of this work. That being said, this article will not postulate a conclusive resolution regarding this prophecy, but rather will sponsor a culmination of the tribulation position, as many souls have argued over this topic over the centuries. When considering elucidation and syntactic organization, Ezekiel must be interpreted as "literal" because "there is not a syllable at the beginning of this chapter to induce us to explain the passage in any other way than a literal method." ". The mechanical arrangement of the two chapters can be delineated in various ways, and it may be prudent to use "four main divisions" which are marked by "four commandments identified with the prophet: 38:2, 14 and 39:1, 17" .
