    Standup for Kids is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1990 by Richard L. Koca who had the idea to begin raising awareness in 1987 when he saw a CBS broadcast of 48 Hours. documenting the street children of San Diego, California (StandUp For, 2014). He immediately began hitting the streets of San Diego identifying homeless teenagers he had helped get into shelters. Her desire and passion to change the lives of homeless youth led to the creation of the organization called StandUp for Kids. StandUp for Kids' mission is to "empower adolescents for lifelong fulfillment through street outreach programs." This mission statement is clear and concise. It guides the actions of StandUp for Kids, specifies their overall objective and suggests a path to follow. StandUp for Kids strives to gain the trust of homeless youth in order to achieve its mission statement (StandUp For, 2014). This trust is sought through programs such as street actions where volunteers seek out homeless young people who need help. Homeless youth are then introduced to outreach centers where they receive food, basic supplies, counseling, educational assistance, independent living skills training, and referral services to programs available throughout the community (StandUp For, 2014). Outreach centers also provide services to the homeless. young people a safe place to stay. StandUp for Kids provides educational programs in elementary and secondary schools that teach these young homeless students how to make decisions in difficult situations to encourage them not to run away (StandUp For, 2014). Additionally, this organization seeks to make a positive impact by helping homeless youth through community support. They work to convince the community to provide paper, flyers, maps, and events (StandUp For, 2014). There needs to be a change in how social media works. StandUP for Kids needs an action strategy to focus on making StandUp for Kids work better on Facebook. This change will also include the creation of a StandUp for Kids Twitter page. Updating these social media sites regularly and daily will create greater opportunities for public engagement and feedback. Perhaps this could lead to greater awareness. A staff member (volunteer) should be designated to update the Facebook and Twitter sites daily. Regularly updating these sites with interesting links and dialogue will increase audience engagement, website traffic and awareness of StandUp for Kids. Additionally, these designated personnel can engage the public through the use of an online blog. Links to the blog could be posted via Facebook and Twitter.
