Ticket to listenA small vestige of my past that is close to my heart is a small piece of paper. Although it is somewhat creased from wear, it is still able to tell a story. The background is pale white; the back is filled with tiny police warnings that leave no unusual scenario unexplained. The front has a wide blue stripe and a thin orange stripe underneath. Some of the black letters are faded but the most important words still stand out: "The Rolling Stones", "Landover, MD" and "Fed ex Field". These few words are all that need to be readable on my post so that I can remember it and be able to tell the story, no matter how many years pass. The story of how I got this ticket is a bit unusual. It all started when I found out that the Stones were playing in Landover, Maryland, which is far away compared to their next stop which was California. My boyfriend and I are huge Rolling Stones fans and all he wanted to do was go see them in concert. So of course, after finding out they were playing MD only five days before the show, I had my work cut out for me. The following days I called every ATM known to humanity to no avail, there was always a problem no seats available or seats available but none together... The list goes on and on, but I that thick skin thing inside me that once I want something, I just have to find a way to get it and I was determined to do that. get this one right. Despite my best efforts, the day of the concert arrived and I still didn't have any tickets, but I knew it didn't matter, I was still going to get us there somehow other. I spent all day on the phone with Candi, my boyfriend's older sister, hatching a brilliant plan to get in. It ended up being our plan to just go for it. We were going to surprise my boyfriend, get in the car and head to Maryland right after school..
