Jai MalpaniProfessor KleinNovember 12, 2013Research EssayShould students take a GAP year?Just imagine doing one thing for years, like playing a game, reading the same book, sleeping, won't you get bored? Imagine a student who studies continuously, taking tiring exams from the age of 3 until he graduates from college. Don't you think it's too much? 16 years of his life is the same, don't you think that after high school, a student needs a "Gap", a kind of break to be able to discover, rest, explore, grow and break this monotonous life. Exactly this “Gap” is required. This terminology has now become a trend among high school students. So, what exactly is taking a gap year? Well, taking a gap year after high school is basically taking a gap year, like a break between high school and college. Different people have different opinions on whether or not a student should take a gap year. A discussion on this topic is really important because not all students and parents know whether it would be worth taking a gap year or not. it would just be a waste of time and money. Different opinions vary from person to person. According to some people, GAP year is worth it because students become mature, it's a kind of break from studies, develop different types of interests, volunteer while at the same time, some people think that it's just a wasted year, studying lose academics, they lose interest and find it difficult to join academics after a gap year. Now, looking at these two arguments, it is indeed an important decision to make whether students should take a gap year or not. So I am carrying out research on this ...... middle of paper ...... a chance to rejuvenate himself, to discover himself and to better understand himself, about what he wants to do, what is what interests him. instead of being a bad thing, it could give a student real motivation and guidelines for what they want to do with their life. The major and career he wants to pursue becomes clear as he explores so many different options this year. So, in my opinion, looking at all these options, the GAP year is indeed a very good option for students. This gives them the opportunity to do things, to experience them, which they will probably never do again in their lives. Different places also open up, the choice of their majors, minors, their future becomes clear. Students realize what they should do, what they are like and what their motto in life is. The GAP year indeed allows a student to be educated not only in one way but touches on several different things..
