  • Essay / Political Culture - 849

Political culture plays a vital role in determining the types of policies implemented in respected states. Political culture can include the role for which citizens of the respected state see the government used, the political ideology of each state and the balance of power of each party, as well as the composition of the government in each state and how This affects legislation. I think when looking at state policies, these four factors play the most important role in determining each state's policy directions. Through this article, I will examine the political culture and configuration of two states, Illinois and Indiana. These are two states that have very different political ideologies, views on how government should be used, and different governing structures in relation to party ideology. Looking at these states, I believe each state's political landscape, beliefs toward one-party ideology, and view of the role of government and current configuration of government will play the most important role in determining the political landscape between different questions and why they were used. When I look at Illinois and a policy area and what led to the implementation of this policy in Illinois, I look at the issue of the civil unions bill which as Project Vote Smart describes , “Vote to pass a bill that allows same-sex couples to enter into a civil union. civil unions with the same legal protections and benefits as those granted to spouses. (Project Vote Smart 2014.) When considering the issue of civil union legislation in Illinois, other questions would be what were the reasons for implementing this bill in Illinois and whether they were due to the political culture and structure of Illinois government and whether that played the upper hand...... middle of paper ...... ie say achieve their goals, and across Illinois, it is the Democrats, and that being in charge will do anything to achieve their goals and their beliefs, and the government is used because this tool and that of the Republicans will be left behind in due to the lack of control, through the elected representatives of the legislature and the governor of Illinois, but also through the political ideology of the citizens. Civil unions legislation in Illinois, looking at the many factors, is implemented and pushed forward due to the current political structure of Illinois government and the political ideology of the fact that the state is Democratic, as well as the political culture and vision of government that operates on political views, and that Illinois is an individualistic state, as Smith noted. and Greenblatt, it's a political culture where the Democrats who are now in control will have the upper hand.
