  • Essay / The Use of Unethical Advertising in Business - 1194

ABOUT UNETHICAL ADVERTISINGBusiness is at stake in order to make money and advertising is the most powerful weapon that helps sell a particular product. Advertising can be harmful and misleading as well as useful and beneficial. Ethics advertising is an unclear concept, but in reality, the main goals of businesses should be to avoid misleading their customers by creating false expectations and to retain their current customers. The major problem with advertising is that most of it is misleading. Advertisements create an unrealistic and sometimes irrelevant impression of a particular product. Unfortunately, consumers often fall victim to their tricks. Advertising works best if it targets people who are likely to use the product. Therefore, many unethical things are done to place advertisements in certain places. People don't know what they really need, they wouldn't know what to buy. For this reason, in order to attract the attention of consumers, companies try all kinds of advertising tactics, even if they involve illegal and dirty tricks. One of the most well-known illegal tricks is called "bait and switch." This tactic mainly involves placing an advertisement for a particular item at a huge value. Then, customers enter the store and can't find the item because it's no longer available. While they are so sad about what they missed, they automatically move towards a similar product that is not as good as the previous one but most of the time they feel satisfied. These tactics not only influence adults, they also influence children. There are a large number of ethical concerns regarding advertising to children. Children can get a bad impression in the middle of a paper......ium. This should be restricted everywhere, but in this capitalist world, money talks, no one cares about children or spiritual things. Overall, government organizations should put in place proper regulation within the advertising industry. The UK is a good model which brings order in a nice way by establishing regulations. People need to be aware of advertisements, set their behaviors correctly and carefully, and need to be smart in their consumption. This is exactly how people should act against advertisements and advertisers should be aware of what they are doing. They must analyze and verify their project before publishing it. What is necessary and what is not actually necessary must be balanced according to ethical standards. Unless they obey the rules, the government should step in and impose restrictions . .
