  • Essay / Cultural Autobiography - 1121

Individual:Some of my strengths or personality traits include kindness, insight, determination, and dependability. These strengths helped me take a big step in the right direction: getting into college and excelling in college. I have almost always been determined to do bigger and better things in my life, and I think that strong determination has driven me to do so. Without determination, I would be nowhere. My biggest learning preference, like many others, is visual learning. If I can see a picture, diagram or video, it helps me immensely. As I have always favored visual learning, to prepare for an exam, I like to write down by hand everything I am supposed to study. Even if the material is already typed, it helps to write it out by hand and really concentrate on each word. Visual learning has influenced the way I study for each course. I have found that taking such actions based on my learning preferences has helped me do extremely well in my college classes. Interaction with others: Obviously, like most people, my parents have had the biggest influence on my life. I grew up with both of my parents married, and they still are today. I think the fact that my parents are still married, unlike many families these days, has a huge influence on how I perceive what a family should be. I have strong opinions about marriage because of what my parents instilled in me. I believe that no matter what, make sure you know what you're getting into before you marry someone, and also, if you and your partner are going through a tough time, don't give up on your marriage. Especially if there are children involved, don't do it... middle of paper ... money can also be a factor in how someone is influenced. A person with more money has more opportunities than a person with less income. For example, if you are rich, you can travel the world in the blink of an eye – thus being exposed to different cultures. Having the opportunity to travel creates an awareness of cultural diversity – something that someone with a lower income may not be exposed to. So overall, where and when I was born obviously influenced how I became a person. I am extremely tech savvy, I have access to food just by walking a few miles, I have electricity and plumbing, and I also have a financially stable family. All these factors have made me who I am today. If I was born in a different era, I would still have the same genetic characteristics, but culturally and historically, I would be different.
