I completely agree that keeping a promise is an important aspect of a person's character. I also agree that you need to think about the consequences, truth number 2, before committing through a promise. However, we are all human beings and there are times when we cannot keep a promise due to unforeseen events, which are a part of life. The 5 Universal Truths of Human Interaction, written by Dr. George Thompson, are summarized in very short and precise statements. Although quite brief, these five truths are echoed by the more detailed truths explained in the previous two articles. If I were to create a summary to illustrate what I learned from the first two articles, it would be similar to the statements made by Dr. Thompson. I believe it would be difficult to find a person who does not feel the need to be respected, who prefers to be asked rather than told, who has options rather than threats, the opportunity to a second chance and the desire to know.
