    The book I chose to do is Street Pharm by Allison van Diepen, the book is 297 pages long, the reason why I chose this book is personally that I'm tired of novels set years before I was born. This novel is about urban problems and a child's attempt to survive under the pressures of modern-day Brooklyn. In the novel, there are several subplots, one being his love interest, Alyse, and Ty's fight to stay in school. As well as his fight not to lose money or control of his territory. It's interesting to see this young man balancing these things in his life and not letting them interfere with each other. Ty Johnson learned business from his father, he knows how to survive in the real world, take care of problems on the ground. . He controls everything and knows how to manage things. He is intelligent, patient, and skillful, everything he needed when he inherited his father's business. Ty was recently kicked out of a mainstream high school and is attending an alternative school where if he drops classes without a medical clearance, he risks being expelled. School becomes better for him when he meets a girl named Alyse, they start studying together and Ty does well in his classes. After being friends with Alyse, Ty asks her out on a date. They end up going to a very upscale restaurant that Ty insists on going to, simply because the food was worth it...
