    IntroductionMartin Luther was a monk, priest and theologian born in late 1483 in the German town of Eisleben. His father owned a copper mine and had always wanted his son to enter public service. When Luther was seventeen, he arrived at the University of Erfurt. In 1502, Luther had already received his bachelor's degree, and in 1505 he had a master's degree. That same year, while returning to college, he was caught in a terrible storm. A flash of lightning struck near him and, terrified, he cried out: “Help, Saint Anne! I'm going to become a monk! ". Luther survived and, keeping his promise, he abandoned his university studies and entered the monastery. “Religious questions” the person answered.
